Supplier donates to Alameda Wildlife Conservation Park in Gibraltar.
Pragmatic Play, a leading content provider to the video game industry, has donated £6,850 to the Alameda Wildlife Conservation Park (AWCP), Gibraltar's only nature reserve, which is home to several native and exotic animal species.
Located in the beautiful Alameda Botanic Gardens, the AWCP deals with unwanted exotic animals and animals confiscated by customs, such as the white-headed tamarin, to raise awareness of endangered species through conservation education.
Pragmatic Play's donation will help the park support its new North American turtle exhibit by funding the renovation of its turtle tanks, which require filtered running water to ensure the health and cleanliness of the animals they house, as well as its outdoor areas.
In addition to the tropical species, the park has three species of North American turtles: the snapping turtle, the map turtle and the yellow-bellied turtle, which can live for over 70 years.
One of the AWCP's main objectives is the conservation of endangered species in the wild, by participating in international conservation projects to ensure their survival. Through captive breeding programmes, the association also hopes to play an important role in the international conservation effort for rare and at-risk groups.
