With this grant, Ardent Group wants to help various sectors affected by Covid-19.
Since 2016, the Liège-based Ardent Group, which includes Gaming1 and Ardent Invest, has organised the annual Ardent Prizes. These awards are given to Liège non-profit organisations working on social issues (disability, childhood, family or integration) and a municipality wishing to create a digital project. This year, the Liège group has decided to postpone the award ceremony for the 2020 edition in order to devote this budget to several sectors affected by the health crisis.
A €80,000 grant redistributed
The directors of the Ardent Group wish to make their contribution by redistributing an envelope of €80,000 to various sectors. Emmanuel Mewissen, CEO and co-founder of Ardent Group, explains:
"Since March, an unprecedented health crisis has hit our country. Many professions have had, and still have, a crucial role to play in minimising the loss of life and maintaining stability in our country. We are thinking of course of the nursing staff, who are particularly affected by this pandemic. The Ardent Prize wishes to work in favour of these professions on the front line. The fight against the epidemic and the current situation is everyone's business, and in particular that of the companies."
Thus, €30,000 was donated to the CPAS of Liège as part of the food bank to provide food to the most disadvantaged people. A further €10,000 was distributed to the Solidaris Home Services Centre to pay for the purchase of medical equipment and thus enable them to fight the virus more effectively. In addition, €20,000 was given to the Wallonia-Brussels Federation as part of the "Digital School 2020" project to give schools the digital means to train tomorrow's leaders and help pupils in need, even at a distance.
Concrete local actions
Finally, €20,000 was distributed among the various land-based Business Units of Ardent Group (Circus Casino, Grand Casino de Namur, Casino de Spa...) to enable them to contribute to local actions.
Among these, €3,000 was given to the hairdressers' federation to offer €5 vouchers to nurses at the CHU in Liège. 2,000 was also donated to Resto Chez Vous, which will offer meals from restaurant owners in the communes of Seraing and Jemeppe to disadvantaged people. In addition, €5,000 was donated to the Hôpital Reine Astrid in Malmedy.
The 5th edition of the Ardent Awards will take place in March 2021. For more information, visit the Ardent Group website.
