On November 22, 2018 the Swedish software Yggdrasil released its new slot machine: Baron Samedi™, under the theme of voodoo wishing to immerse us in a world that scares a bit. At least one that invites respect for most of us, spirits, the dark world, and the means to be able to contact the afterlife.
Peter and Jimmy are two brothers with completely different characters. Peter is a businessman, always impeccable and very serious, and Jimmy, who had studied to be a doctor, but couldn't really find his place, didn't know what to do with his life and drowned his sorrows in alcohol. When they were children, Peter had been there for his mother's suicide and had promised to always look after his brother.
But one day, Jimmy couldn't take it anymore and decided to go far away after a big fight with Peter. This time the subject was not the same as usual, Peter had found Jenny his girlfriend at Jimmy's house because she had found in Jimmy what Peter was not giving her. The situation had come to a head, the two brothers had just had a fight.
Jimmy decided to go to Haiti to a psychiatric hospital to study paranormal phenomena (a hobby he had always had) and to teach them western methods of treating certain mental illnesses, which is why he was going to join his colleague Dr. Marie France, a change of scenery would suit everyone.
Years went by, Peter had a big depression after being cheated on by his brother and his girlfriend, he was on medication, he kept moving because he was now the one who didn't fit in this world anymore. But one day his ex-girlfriend, a journalist, came and told him that she had to do a report on a doctor who had disappeared in Haiti: Jimmy.
Peter didn't want to hear about his brother or her, but at the moment he had nothing better to do, he was out of work and he was moving again. So he decided to help Jenny with her investigation, Paula and Jeff would join them as editor and camera. The team goes to Haiti.
When they get there they meet Dr Marie France, and at first no one reveals that Jimmy and Peter are brothers. She takes them on a tour of the clinic, the place is gloomy, seems to have no end, you can even see people being tied up with chains! It is chilling but the four battle companions continue on their way.
When she leaves them alone, they go back to try to find answers to their questions. It must be said that the practices and beliefs of these people were different from those of the western world. Suddenly, they stop in front of a hombre with a terrifying face with a high hat and his face painted in white and black, it looks like Baron Samedi™!
The four youngsters are increasingly frightened, but they ask Marie-France to help them. In fact Jeff had gone out of the clinic to get coffees for everyone and someone strange had approached him and given him a memory stick. What could be on it? He looks for Peter to show him. We have to see what's on it!
When they start to look at what was on it, they see that what is on it. These are images of his brother's work with patients. But he was practicing voodoo! He's looking for answers to questions and all of a sudden Jimmy disappears and it's all on film! Every moment that passes gets worse and worse.
Dr Marie-France tells them that she doesn't really agree but she will put them in touch with a Voodoo master. They can't find the master, only the assistant. He tells them that Jimmy had come to look for him but that he too has since disappeared.
The Voodoo apprentice, who had some experience, agrees to follow them to the clinic to help them find answers and even the master. They go into one of the rooms that had ritual drawings on the floor and even bring the patient who looks like Baron Samedi™, they were going to use him for the ritual.
They sit him in the circle, the atmosphere is really tense, but they have to keep going, they have to find Jimmy and the others at all costs! The apprentice slits the throat of a chicken and pours the blood on the patient. All of a sudden he goes into a trance and can thus get in touch with the beyond! The tension increases by seconds... They manage to see Jimmy, the master and other people who seem to be there!
But all of a sudden, Baron Samedi™'s body as if possessed, starts moving, crawling, and saying weird things! They manage to see Jimmy, and many other people performing rituals. Without knowing how, Baron Samedi™ kidnaps Jenny and disappears!
Peter and the others begin to search for her through corridors from which white sheets were hanging. In each room Peter saw moments from her past life with her brother Jimmy and even the day of the fight! The voodoo apprentice explained to Peter that Jenny was to be sacrificed!
As he went on with his search he went deeper into the memories of the day of his mother's suicide, even further and Peter sees himself poisoning and killing his stepfather because he was terrorising his brother Jimmy. He always wanted to be alone with him... Now he understands! He had done it to defend him but Jimmy didn't want to.
His mother comes in and discovers the horror, but it's done, she has to protect them, so she takes her husband's corpse to the cellar and starts cutting it up to hide the evidence of the crime. But the guilt eats away at her until one day she can't stand it any longer, so she climbs a ladder, puts a knife in her mouth and jumps off the ladder.
Peter was there and now his mother's words made sense: she wanted to protect him from the monster, Baron Samedi™, his guilt! He had just understood everything, also that his brother felt like this to protect him and not to hurt him! He had to find him among this mixture of real spirits and bodies! If only... The three remaining friends decide to split up so that Peter can find Jenny and Jimmy, and that's when Paula and Jeff get chased by Baron Samedi™.
They hide under a bed but unfortunately, this strange being starts jumping on the bed and piercing it with his big sword, and suddenly he goes through Jeff's body, Paula can't waste time she quickly gets out and hides again, but he discovers her right away and runs the same fate as Jeff...
Peter finds Jimmy but also the monster, his conscience, his guilt and they both confront him. Their struggle is fierce and they are finally able to defeat him but Jimmy eventually succumbs to his injuries and leaves Peter in total desolation. Before he dies he tells him to look for Jenny and save her, which Peter promises him.
He begins his search and soon finds her, and as the two brothers had defeated him it only remains for Baron Samedi™ to keep his promise. Alas, there are not many people left alive! Peter promises Jenny that he will never part with her again and will always protect her!
Baron Samedi™ is a video slot with 5 reels, 3 rows and 25 fixed lines from the left. The game has eight regular symbols that win if 3 or more symbols line up in a payline. Wild symbols substitute for all regular symbols and appear anywhere on the reels and in the free spins.
