The young Guinevere lives in a small village where Merlin's tree is located. Close to Arthur, she learns on her birthday that the wizard has prophesied her accession to the throne of Camelot and that he wants her to be his queen. After extracting Excalibur (scatter from The Sword and the Grail™) from its stone, Arthur returns to his village surrounded by the knights Percival and Lancelot showing the sword that made him king.

He joins the young Guinevere (symbol of The Sword and the Grail™) and appoints her as his queen. Many years later, the queen is no longer happy. When they arrive in Camelot, Lancelot decides to leave. In the tower of the kingdom King Arthur bewitches Guinevere to force her to find her love for him. Five years later, she is officially presented to her husband's guests when they arrive at court.

They realise that the dagger has been stolen and Guinevere overhears a conversation between her husband and David about Lancelot. She is desperate to find out where he is to settle the score. King Arthur leaves to find the dagger and when he does not return she goes looking for him. She frees him and has Lancelot imprisoned (symbol of The Sword and the Grail™). After Merlin's release she follows King Arthur to the wizard's tower...

The Sword and the Grail™ features and game mechanics.

Payline wins will occur on the number of lines selected and can be checked on the win table. When winning more than one payline during the same game all wins will be added together. Feature and free spin wins will also be added to payline wins and winning combinations will be paid out at the end of a game.

Free spins features will be played with the same bet and number of lines selected as the spin that triggered them. The bet cannot be changed during an ongoing game. The Sword and the Grail™ is a 5-reel, 20 fixed payline video slot. The sword can land on any reel 3 or more will be able to trigger the free spins. The wild will be the Grail and can substitute for all symbols except the scatter.

The Grail will appear as a wild multiplier in any round. The multiplier values will be 2, 5, 10 or 100. If the Grail substitutes another symbol as a multiplier wild, it will multiply the associated multiplier value.

Finding 3 or more swords at once will trigger the free spins feature. Any extra swords that fall during the free spins are collected to help us progress through the four free spin stages. Triggering the free spins feature with 3, 4 or 5 swords will start the free spins collection at 3, 4 or 5 respectively.

Initially, the free spins feature awards 5 free spins with each grail as a wild multiplier game with a value of x2. When moving on to the 2nd stage we are offered 5 more free spins with each grail as a wild multiplier game with a value of x5.

In the third stage, 11 swords must be collected, including those that triggered the free spins in the first and second stages. You will collect 5 free spins with each grail in the form of a wild multiplier worth 10x.

To reach the final stage you need to collect 18 swords, including the ones that triggered the free spins in the first, second and third stages. To reach the final stage we will be awarded 5 additional free spins with each grail in the form of a wild multiplier worth x100. Swords will not appear in the final stage.

Each free spin stage will start after the end of the previous free spin stage. Bets are selected using the bet buttons. Bets can be changed step by step and when the reels stop the symbols displayed determine the prize according to the paytable.

The Sword and the Grail™ slot machine review.

Play'n Go software has given us a King Arthur and the Round Table themed slot that surprises us with its very high volatility but a slightly below average 96% return to player. We don't have to wait too long to see the features scroll and the swords and grails fall on the reels to make us enjoy the free spins and moreover we see them quite frequently.

The interface is beautiful, as are the characters and the visual effects that leave our mouths open. It's really well done, it's a magical moment, there's a lot of light in the symbols while the reels are spinning, coins are spouting. The castle room has two braziers with fire in them, and when the free spins are triggered you are transported outside the castle.

The software could have done a better job with the features, as there is only one, the free spins, in stages, which is not bad but no jackpot either. Of course, there are multipliers, wilds, which make the bankroll grow quite quickly as you level up. The more swords you find, the bigger the multiplier will be, up to x100!

The bets range from £0.10 to £100 through 0.20, 0.40, 0.60, 0.80, 1.00, 1.20, 1.60, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 70 or £100. You can't say that you don't have a choice! It's impressive, there is something for every taste and budget! It's not surprising to see that at Play'n Go, they want to reach a maximum of public and it's the right way! Normally in casino games you find 6 or 7 bet amounts, but here we are doing it right, there are 22!

Despite all this, The Sword and the Grail™ is a game that comes to entertain us and the theme of King Arthur and the round table is very successful. Even if there is no jackpot the rest does the trick. Payout multipliers and free spins that trigger fairly quickly in addition to a good flurry of wagering values will have players on the edge of their seats!
