On November 21, 2019, the new wonder of Yggdrasil software is released: Aldo's Journey™! Little Aldo is an elf like no other. He comes from a tiny kingdom near Italy. He has a special mission: he has to take Princess Marame on a journey before she turns 18, otherwise she won't be able to rule. The king trusts no one but himself because there is a conspiracy against him: someone wants to prevent the princess from travelling so that she cannot take the throne.
Everyone knew who it was: the evil and envious cousin Leopold. He was convinced that he was the one who should rule and that a woman could not do so well. But this was without Aldo, who was faithful to his king and ready to accomplish his mission at the risk of his life. Especially because the princess had no sense of direction, got lost all the time and did not listen to anyone.
The overly happy elf on his mission kept hopping around (like in the Aldo's Journey™ virtual slot machine). The big day arrived but the only ones who knew about it were our two travellers and the king. Since the princess would go weeks and weeks without leaving her room to study the books, it wouldn't be strange. They set off in the night and in disguise so as not to be recognized.
Their adventure-filled journey will take them to Italy, Mongolia, Persia and China (features in Aldo's Journey™) where the princess will learn martial arts. When she returns to the castle, she will be unrecognizable, but more importantly, she will have acquired all the necessary foundations of other cultures to be able to rule her kingdom properly!
Aldo's Journey™ is a 5×5 reels random video slot with 65 paylines that will pay left to right. The game has 8 regular symbols that will win if three or more are lined up in a sequence of one win line starting with the leftmost position.
The game features regular wilds that substitute all regular symbols into free spins symbols that will only appear in the base game and the Aldo Journey wild that will appear in all modes. Aldo moves one position per reel in one of 8 directions per spin. Aldo functions as a wild and can substitute any regular symbol. When the player changes the coin value Aldo will have to return to his original position.
When Aldo lands in the centre position in the base game, 3 to 9 wilds are randomly placed on the reels and multipliers from x2 to x4 will be applied to any win. When Aldo is positioned in the middle of the grid, the free spins will award 3-9 random wilds on the reels and add +1, +2 or +3 to the multiplier meter. For the full free spins session, but this will not apply to the free spins journey.
Free spins symbols only will land on reels 2, 3 and 4. If 3 free spin symbols, the maximum possible, will trigger the free spin mode. The Aldo's Journey™ random video slot is separated into 4 regions represented by different coloured rectangles on the reels and a central square. Depending on which position Aldo will occupy when the free spins are triggered that region will be rewarded. All free spins will be played on the same bet level and lines as the game that triggered them.
The Italy free spins will be found in the top left rectangle. In this free spins mode the win multiplier will start at x2 and increase with each spin by 1. Mongolia free spins are located in the top right rectangle. At the end of each free spin a regular symbol is removed from the reels for the remaining free spins.
If there are only 2 symbols left on the reels, the player will receive a +1x multiplier instead. The Persia free spins are located on the bottom left of the reels. On each spin Aldo throws a sticky wild which will remain in a random position for the rest of the free spins. The wild that is thrown cannot land on a previously thrown wild.
The China free spins will be at the bottom right. Aldo will create a line of 1 to 5 wilds and he will also include himself in 1 of the 8 directions in each round. This line always starts from Aldo himself and ends on the edge of the slot (if Aldo is in this area of the slot the line he creates will be in a direction that can reward at least one extra wild.
This mode will start with a x2 multiplier. The free spins feature will be found in the centre square. This free spins mode uses the functionality of the region Aldo is in, and if Aldo is in the centre square then 3 extra free spins will be added.
