Created in partnership with the Gaming Clinic of the Brugmann University Hospital, this first training module confirms Gaming1's commitment to a responsible approach to gambling

Responsible gambling, the central pillar of our model:

Gaming1 has always had ethics and responsible gambling as part of its mission: to provide the best possible responsible gambling experience, focused on regulated online markets, by leveraging our technology and a local physical or affiliate network.

In a hyper-connected world where illegal, and therefore unregulated, sites are just a click away, it is our responsibility to fight addiction and provide players with an entertaining, but also responsible and regulated gaming experience.

With this in mind, Gaming1 makes it a point of honour to create and implement prevention and protection tools for players, as well as to train and raise the awareness of each of its employees to this issue.

Gaming1 also intends to demonstrate that the use of artificial intelligence supported by advanced data analysis will make it possible to individualise the detection and treatment of problematic behaviour.

The importance of training our employees:

Responsible gambling is a concern for everyone at Gaming1, and the newly created Responsible Gaming department will coordinate all initiatives in this area. In this respect, a partnership has been developed with the Gaming Clinic of the Brugmann University Hospital. The aim is to contribute to behavioural research on gamblers and to devise training modules targeted to the needs of each profession. All our employees participated in the first training module, presented in the form of an interactive e-learning programme. Our CEO Emmanuel Mewissen commented on this first session:

"The legal sector only makes sense if it effectively protects players. It is our responsibility, as legal players in the gambling world, to also fight addiction. Today we want to open your eyes and explain the dangers of excessive gambling. I want 100% of the players in our company to be aware of this problem and to work together to create a strong legal sector. You, the land-based players, who are our ambassadors and the physical contact with our players. You, the digital players, who are handling the mass today. It is the role of all of us to help people who have a problem to get out of it. We need to be able to spot problematic gaming behaviour to help send the right message, or even ban players who have a real problem with the game from us."

A comprehensive and interactive first module:

This first training module, which will now be offered to all our new employees as part of their onboarding, covers the issue of responsible gambling in its entirety. The training is informative, but also interactive, as each employee is involved through a series of questions asked throughout the module. For about an hour, each participant is guided through several themes: governance, prevention and protection tools, and awareness-raising among staff and players.

In terms of governance, our employees were reminded of the importance of the Belgian Gaming Commission (CJH), the various licences and the BAGO association, which brings together the five largest companies in the private gaming sector. They were also trained on risk indicators and detection tools to be able to identify vulnerable players more easily and quickly. Moderation and self-regulation tools, such as spending control, assessment tests and exclusion, also play a central role in the training. The psychological consequences of gambling addiction were also addressed, notably through the poignant testimony of a former compulsive gambler.

This very comprehensive and instructive first module will soon be followed by more targeted training courses depending on the area of expertise of each employee. Further proof of Gaming1's strong commitment to responsible gambling!
