The Duluth years and New Jersey approval

In the early 2000s the company filed its first trademarks from Georgia. On 8 May 2014, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement approved the Genesis DV1 platform for Atlantic City. It came with Fire Wolf, Siberian Siren and Legend of the White Buffalo, as the trade press reported at the time.

Amaya, 2012

In September 2012, Canada's Amaya Gaming announced the acquisition for $167 million. The company was piling up land-based assets at a furious pace.

AGS, 2015

On 1 June 2015 the direction changed completely. Amaya had just swallowed PokerStars and was pivoting to digital. The buyer, AGS LLC, then backed by Apollo Global Management, put up $370 million in cash plus a $12 million promissory note. David Lopez, head of AGS, said in the closing statement: "After what can only be categorized as an incredibly transformational year for AGS, the acquisition of Cadillac Jack further demonstrates that we are positioned to take the next step in establishing ourselves as a major player in the gaming industry."

Around 11,000 leased machines at the end of 2014. More than 13,000 installed units in total. A 165-title catalogue and roughly $93 million in annual revenue, 88% of it recurring. A leasing model, not a sales model. That annuity is what justified the price.

Brightstar, 2025

What followed was a steady climb. An IPO, then revenue rising from $309 million in 2022 to $356 million in 2023 and $395 million in 2024. The final showdown came on 30 June 2025, when Brightstar Capital Partners closed its $1.1 billion buyout of PlayAGS and took the group private.
