Maria is not like her parents, she is a young woman who cannot stand injustice, who does not understand why money can separate people, and especially that the strong terrorise the weak. When Maria's parents discover her friendship with Pablo, they plan to have her locked up to keep her away from her dangerous friendships.
But this was without counting on Pablo who had heard everything and came to warn Maria who wastes no time and leaves but not without robbing the family safe to teach them a good lesson! But where to go now to avoid being discovered? Pablo had the solution, his uncles lived in San Pedro, a small and remote village in the Mexican mountains. It was the perfect place!
Pablo's friends helped him to leave quietly and take him to this small village, but it was going to be a long way, that's why they were leaving at night, so that no one could suspect! Maria is a bit sad to leave her family but she has no choice, it's her freedom or emotional prison for life!
After travelling all night, Maria and her friends finally arrive in San Pedro. Pablo's uncles, Berta and Antonio, always helpful, prepare a good breakfast for them and while everyone is getting their strength back, Pablo explains the situation to his uncles who don't doubt for a moment to offer their hospitality to the young girl.
In the village there is no television, no telephone, you would think you were back in the Cro-Magnon era, but it was the best place to disappear! Pablo's friends had to go back home, so after dinner they set off on their way back, leaving Maria and Pablo in good hands.
When Maria wakes up, Berta the aunt shows her around. Towards the exit of the village there is a long building and she is amazed to discover that it is a bomb factory! Barrels of gunpowder, Molotov cocktails, bombs of all kinds! Incredible, she couldn't have found a better place.
Maria asks Berta why in such a quiet little village there were bombs. It was simple, June 14th is San Basilio, and in his honour they throw bombs everywhere (outside the village of course!) They don't want to destroy anything, just smell the burning powder!
But what day was it? No, not possible! The 13th of June! The party is tomorrow! Maria was looking forward to it! Berta explained to her that the men dress in the typical costume and the women put on their best finery to shine on that day. The hair is tied in a ponytail and a flower is worn to match the dress.
The signal for the festivities to begin comes from the village bell tower, where the bells will ring for three minutes, and after a "Hola muchachos!!!! !!!" from the mayor, everyone must go to the bomb building, take some and then run to the exit of the village, and start bombing the building reserved for this purpose there.
During the whole year and in their spare time, the men build a building to destroy it on the day of the festival, with the bombs that the women have made, so that everyone participates. It must be said that they don't have many distractions in this village! So they have fun as they can!
It had been a long night as Maria had not been able to sleep, but the big day had arrived! Maria looked beautiful, her long brown hair tied in a ponytail as Berta had told her, a red flower on one side, a beautiful red and white dress with a breathtaking neckline that Pablo's aunt had lent her.
Even Speedy Gonzales, the mouse who had been taken in by the family, participates in the festivities carrying barrels of gunpowder (which can be seen in La bomba 96™ crossing the interface from side to side). Maria was happy! It was impossible not to be in that atmosphere and that smell of burning powder! But something was missing...
