The bandits come to collect all the metal objects to melt them down and make ammunition for the cannon that Shen has invented. The battle is fairly easy for the friends, but when Po comes face to face with one of the wolves wearing the symbol of the peacock clan, he is petrified, reliving an episode from his previous life and allowing the wolves to escape.
When master Shifu learns that Shen and his acolytes are planning to take control of the whole of China with his firearms, he sends Po and the Cyclones to Gongmen to destroy the cannons. The last Kung Fu masters are in the prison but refuse to follow our friends into battle, thinking they will have no chance of defeating them.
Our panda and his friends are taken prisoner by Shen's guards, but they free themselves and destroy the main cannon. Unfortunately, Po is hypnotised when he sees the peacock symbol and realises that Shen had a hand in the disappearance of his real parents, so he tells Tigress, who doesn't know what to think of her panda friend.
Seeing that her friend froze when he saw the peacock, Tigress, the strongest and most intrepid of the group, ordered Po to stay back, but turning a deaf ear to her advice, confronted Shen, who told her that his parents had abandoned him, and was then hit by a cannon, causing him to fall into the river.
The divinatrix takes him in and nurses him back to health, remembering that his mother had hidden him in a tin of vegetables so that she could save him from the wolf packs that Shen had sent to kill all the pandas. It is then that Po begins to remember his childhood and find his long-awaited inner peace.
Po returns to Gongmen to save his friends and not let Shen win, and must face Shen's troops with the help of Shifu and the two imprisoned masters. With his new inner peace technique, our panda can send the flaming cannonballs back to his enemy.
When Shen is defeated, Po and his friends return to the Valley of Peace. He goes to see his father, Mr Ping, and assures him that he considers him to be his real father. And the film ends when, in a remote village lost in a mountain, a panda in a green monk's habit feels chills and has just realised that his missing son is very much alive!
